Inspired by the title sequence from Disney’s Tron Legacy, this tutorial shows you how to create the animated lines seen in the sequence. This is my first After Effects Tutorial! Please subscribe and feel free to leave a comment or send me a message. I recently recreated the entire Tron intro sequence using Cinema 4D and Adobe After Effects. A Visual Effects Breakdown is included. You can view it here: Enjoy! ,

Can you make an intro for my YouTube channel. That kind of animation and the line will be writing the word circuit films which will be my YouTube channel name. If that's okay
Great Work and Explanation, thanks
Awesome tutorial! Thank you!
While I appreciate the tutorial, you skipped several key pieces making this rather difficult to follow such as jumping from drawing one shape to drawing multiple shapes within the layer, and also jumping from drawing the shapes to having them alread painted as masks for the next step.
If the background turns black when choosing "Reveal Original Image" just have the first stroke as "Reveal Original Image" and the rest of the strokes after that as "On Original Image". That will correctly layer the strokes to show all of them with the desired fill color.
Your tutorial sucks! As said before, "skipping bits makes it very difficult to follow. please don't edit stuff out when doing tutorials."
Great tutorial! Saved me!
Instead of using strokes with right angles moving at a constant speed, I have done a curved line which accelerates with physics. Is there a way I can copy velocity information from the stroke path to the position of the null object?
thank you i hope i will see new tutorial more ^^
Why the music???
my null copied the path but there are no keyframes?
SO helpful, thank you.
Where is cmd? key
Awesome – thanks very much!!!
thanks soooooooo much, extremely clear
Nice thank you. Any advice on having pulses moving down the wire. To show current flow?thanks
he question! I am working on a video and I have a motherboard shot and what i am trying to do is tracking the lines on the motherboard, and then have it have those electric effects. But the tracking is where it faults. What would you advice to use?
I got a question! I basicly have a moving camera that rotates around a subject, and I want those lines to stay correct on the movements, So i have a CPU chip and I want these tron lines to move out from it, but at the same time it zooms in and rotates. Can you tell me how, or where to look under?
did you pick 960×540 because you are on a mac?
When I duplicate I still only have 1 mask :/
AWESOME
donkey, 1st learn properly then teach… donkey dan
I added lines over the Solid Layer and I don't get the option to Mask the path
there were 0 masks in that video. a mask is a box that covers stuff up. im new so dont yell at me. but this tuts shit.
How could you skip over the multiple mask section that made it difficult to follow.
skipping bits makes it very difficult to follow. please don't edit stuff out when doing tutorials. 🙂
Thank you so much, it's very useful lesson, I was applying your course step by step for Architect concept and it works, I'll try to upload it ASAP
Witch letter are you druk in at 8:53
you skipped some parts. so frustrating
can you do this in 3d????
You missed the multiple mask part, the video skips over it
Thank you 🙂
There was only mask 1 when I was trying to choose mask 2(2:50). Then I found out he actually drew three lines in the beginning, but he didn't mention it in the video..
And he didn't say you need to duplicate the null object at 10:00, and line up all the null objects…
helpful….thanks
how do i open my light? the png file we made.
This probably seems like the simpliest part but when I create the path for my masks, they don't appear on the screen. Then when i add the stroke effect and apply the end stopwatch, nothing happens and the screen is just blank. I am struggling to make it appear as I followed your tutorial. Am I missing something?
Not really what I hopped onto youtube to find, but I couldn't not watch a Tron tutorial! This was awesome, absolutely awesome, very cool stuff. Loved that you went the whole way and added the flicker and the grid. Nice work.
nice !
Hi there. Nice tut by the way, nothing too difficult about it. What I want to know is, how you did a camera move ? Did you use an offset on the grid and then follow a null/light – basically want to know how you set the pan up. Thanks Dan
Great video, thank you for taking the time to make it. I liked it (thumbs up) and subscribed.
