Earth’s population is ever increasing. The challenge: housing, homes, affordable for all.
How can we use new technology to create new spaces where there’s none left? How can sustainable construction revolutionize the construction industry?

This documentary searches for answers – presenting innovative concepts for the challenges facing humanity. The objective: humane housing in ever shrinking space.

“We are rethinking how we will build in the future. Those problems come to us with every project. But we choose not to see them. We choose to make architecture the autonomous object, taking the brief only from the client while we also have the responsibility for society. We have to explain our ambitions as architects to expand the agenda, be clever and respectful and honest. We have to teach young architects about this and talk much more about this.”
Rahul Mehrotra, Professor for Urban Design

It's not too much plastic, not too little resources. It's the poor who breed inconsiderably – that is the reason of so-called "crisis". No education – no consciousness. Breeding in poor areas of the world affects and pulls back the rest of the world. Progressive world stopped reproducing. Third world countries with no consciousness keep giving birth to more poor.

Add VISITABILITY to your maps! Stairs are biggest obstacle to wheelchair users. Your model had no stairs u til you showed the model with 2 pairs of stairs block use from.:veterans, elders, disabled adults and kids. You can do this without stairs!

I’m glad 🙂, that some where like gerhard is struggling for a change keeping the environment safe for the generations that follows. Much appreciations needed for the people like him.
Change is what needed with in us. Go green, save water and environment.

I applaud the production of this documentary. But it could have shown more proof of concept that the designers and planners have had some success.
I got halfway through it. I see it. I don't believe it. It is a nice dream. These planners and designers are not law makers or developers or investors. Cities are like they are because of large capital investment. Cities are going to stay the way they are because it it.

The Indian gentleman was describing hi rises that are empty. Lower the price if you want to fill them. Screen the people and those with good character references but low income, let them in. There is no reason that anyone should not have a place to live .

Cars are also necessary for people with mobility disabilities like chronic pain

If you see elevators as a problem, clearly you don't use a wheelchair. Those ramps are also way too steep for wheelchairs…clearly you just haven't thought of the existence of disabled people at all in this design

I'm not sure about all this. How about limiting the amount of children ppl can have for a while and we won't have to worry about living space. I like my privacy and prefer not to be surrounded by a bunch of ppl. These places would make me feel claustrophobic and unhappy.

YOU HAVE GOT TO PROCESS DESERT SAND INTO JAGGED SAND.. RUN IT THRU A CRUSHER TO GIVE IT THAT JAGGED EDGE.. THIS WILL HELP W THE DEPLETION OF SAID RIVER SAND.
WHY NOT USE WASTE PLASTICS AS THE 'POLYESTER' RESIN MEDIUM…? OOPS, THAT'S WHAT THEY ARE DOING.. BRAVO

It would be interesting to me to explore how it impacts people lived experience to build their living space with their own hands. I'm curious how it would impact their memories of living in that space and how it influences their lives.

yeah I like the vision of the neighborhoods in the sky concept, but like most things nowadays, just feels artificialtransplantedingenuine etc. Im vaguely reminded of Kowloon Walled City, which at the very least can provide some insight into the perils that arise when you allow tennants to build. Also, Luxury and Affordable under the same roof is a cute idea, but entirely unrealistic and when implemented into developments today, its for tax exemption and zoning loopholes.

Yey again, nothing is being done to help regenerate and make life better for the poor and homeless, making them an integrated and respected community not new age slaves for businesses you must remember most people attending Universities are either funded (mostly by students families in 3rd world and Asian countries) or middle and upper-class wealthy students. Like Cambridge or MIT for example.

Cities are segregated on an epic amount. the poor and homeless are often persecuted and ridiculed and segregated away from the central more middle-class populace, which is also segregated from the wealthy and now we have the super-rich at a new level, meanwhile, the workers and the poor are further shunned and isolated. the homeless are totally rejected imprisoned, often dying/killed (by lack of helpful caring ammneties) becoming targets and fodder for corrupt police and criminal organizations

Uniform change throughout the world is important, and we are working too much to improve ways of life everywhere instead of just for certain parts of the world. Not making electricity uniform is what is creating a pull on the cities(diffusion). We need to give it to everyone if we have it ourselves. Also, with the environmental effects we are even affecting those who do not have access to a larger amount of electronic devices and associated electronic based infrastructures. What is the correlation between elevator numbers in the places referenced in the video and why were they focused on in the flexible architecture part of the film?

I think the solutions are wonderful. But you shouldn't give solutions to overpopulation, that's just shifting the problem that exists today for about 50 years. No, you now need to make it clear to humanity that enough is enough and not offer a solution that shifts the problem over time. In the 80s the propellants in the aerosol cans were the cause, in the 90s the gases in the refrigerator, in 2000 the coal in 2010 the petrol in 2020 the diesel. No the problem is still the same and getting worse day by day and it's too many people. And you do not offer a solution BUT feed the problem.
